I love Batch Bakeshop as much as I love cake, which is a LOT. I mean, beautifully conceived of and created pies, cakes, cookies, and pastries with unique and delicious flavors that you can only get by special order? YES. PLEASE. I was thrilled to get to sit down and chat with the store's chef/owner, Mika Maloney, to discuss the wide variety of dessert options she has available for pre-order this Thanksgiving.
Maloney’s specialty bakery is a West Central neighborhood wonder. Her offerings change with the seasons, and with her creative whims, which makes for a dynamic and interesting product every. Single. Time. The latest round of Batch Bakery offerings are slated to make your Thanksgiving table sparkle… that is, if you’re smart enough to pre-order through her website by Friday.
Here is all of the information you need to order Mika’s incredible holiday pies (and one fantastic cake offering) !
Pre-order your Thanksgiving pies & desserts by Fri Nov 17th (HERE!)
Pick-up on either Wednesday Nov 22nd (anytime between 11 am & 5 pm) or Thursday Nov 23rd, Thanksgiving morning (between 9 am and noon).
If you don’t pre-order, fear not!
They will have those little individual serving items available at their storefront during pickup hours on Wednesday and Thursday, though, so take heart! Even if you miss the full-size pie boat, you can still grab something delicious for your table, including MINI PIES!
DISCLAIMER: Although they will have some individual serving pies, cookies, and other treats available for purchase on those days, they will only have these pies for pre-orders. Don’t get your pretty little heart set on buying a full-sized pie if you don’t PRE-ORDER, or you’ll be super sad. However, you can have comfort in a cookie, so you still win.
DISCLAIMER #2: I have sad news for you apple pie lovers, her apple slab pie is already sold out. You know what that means… if you see something that looks amazing, make sure you order it RIGHT. NOW. I hesitated, and I missed out on my favorite! Lesson to learn - order ASAP if you have a favorite! She will not have more available, as supplies have been ordered, and staffing is limited in this delightfully artisanal bakery.
Of course I ordered pies for this year’s Thanksgiving, because I know I can’t beat Mika in the baking department, despite my delusional hope to someday be as great of a baker as she is. I chose her Roasted Plum and Pear Ginger Galette and the Pumpkin Chai-Spice Cream Pie, and I can’t wait to pick those up!!!! Mika and I share a love for the galette, as she says, “I am a sucker for any sort of pie or galette--seasonal fruit filling, flaky pastry, what more could you want?” Can I get an amen?!?! Be smart. Have Mika make your pies and you can spend extra time catching up on Scandal or making Alton Brown’s amazing brined turkey that blows any turkey recipe out of the water. I mean, life is all about choices, right?
Do you want to know all of the pies she has available this year? This year’s offerings include:
Apple Huckleberry Slab Pie (SOLD OUT!)
flaky pie dough // apple & huckleberry filling // in a quarter sheet pan
Cream cheese crust makes a rich and delicious (and gluten-free!*) base for this pie! The combined powers of creamy pumpkin & spicy Mandala Chai Cochai tea concentrate make for a pie that just might be our new favorite thing.
jammy cranberries // sugar crunch // buttery cake with just a hint of orange
Prices range from $16-24 for these culinary works of art. The best part about shopping with Mika for your pie this year, is that she will also be donating $2 of each pie purchase to support one of four different charities. It’s easy to be thankful for someone who creates delicious pie, AND gives back. Spokane is fortunate to have such a fantastic bakery that continues to contribute to our local community! Order your pies (and/or Cranberry Crunch Cake) today!
